Comfort was a necessity in Devin Lucien's thought process on which school to transfer to, and Arizona State satisfied all the checkmarks for the UCLA wide transfer. This past weekend Lucien visited Tempe and made his decision official.

"I committed yesterday and signed my paperwork today," Lucien said. "The relationship I have with Berco (ASU quarterback Mike Bercovici)… that is my guy, the need they have at the receiver position and me being a great fit there is why I decided to go there. I'm ready to come in and play right away, and the caches felt the same way so everything was mutual.
"Coach Graham was very excited when I committed. He told ne even before I visited that he wanted all my dreams to come true my senior year, and I know that he truly will help me achieve them. I know it's a great school and I can get my master's in Sports Law or Communications there. I know that ASU will put me in a position to get drafted high and get my degree on top of that. It's just a great fit and I felt good about ASU for a while."
The wide receiver took just one other visit, to Utah, and said that the entire Pac-12, aside from Oregon and Stanford, as well as schools like Alabama and Miami were all pursuing him the last several weeks.
"I had a lot of different options," Lucien commented, "but I'm 21 now and I don't need to get recruited all over again. I knew I wanted to stay in the Pac-12 because I knew the competition, I knew I wanted to play with a quarterback I had a relationship with. I didn't see a need to wear out all my visits."
The 6-0 195 Devin Lucien played in 32 games the past three seasons for UCLA and has 49 receptions, 621 yards and four touchdowns during that span. The wide receiver said that the ASU coaches envision him stepping into the vacancy Jaelen Strong has left in his 9-reciever role.
"Coach Norvell has been recruiting me hard," Lucien said of the Sun Devils' offensive coordinator. "Tulsa was the first school to offer me when he was there. He also offered me at Pitt, so everything happens for a reason and I'm finally going to play for him.
"I'm just excited to play for all the coaches and help them win a national championship. They want me to play where Jaelen Strong did, but I'm ready to play wherever they need me. I knew what I was looking for my senior year and they had what I was looking for."
Lucien will arrive in Tempe in late May or Early June, after he graduates with his Bachelor's degree from UCLA, and is eligible to play this season.
