Sun Devils land Rivals100 QB Brady White

Arizona State received a monumental addition to its 2015 recruiting class Friday with a commitment from quarterback Brady White, a Rivals100 recruit at Hart High in Newhall, Calif.
White, 6-foot-2, 186 pounds, is the nation's No. 3 pro-style quarterback, higher than any player to commit to ASU in the history of Rivals.com and only the second national Top-100 quarterback to do so along with Andrew Walter in 2000.

Cal and Oregon were the other finalists for White, who is ranked No. 71 overall nationally regardless of position and No. 8 in California. He had double-digit scholarship offers.
As a junior in 2013, White passed for 4,535 yards with 41 touchdowns and 18 interceptions and also had 525 rushing yards and nine touchdown carries.
White's commitment also puts the program in line for its best quarterback class in school history. The Sun Devils already have earned a commitment from Chandler High School standout Bryce Perkins, the No. 12 dual-threat quarterback in the 2015 class.
Only USC has two quarterbacks who are both ranked among the Top-20 nationally, giving ASU one of the two best quarterback classes in the country.
Cal appeared to be a strong early leader for White but he and members of his family visited ASU for a spring scrimmage the second weekend of April, and made a return trip just two weekends later. He said both visits were excellent, and valued ASU into the driver's seat in the recruitment.
The decision by White also makes ASU a strong candidate in the recruitment of his teammate, Rivals100 wide receiver Trent Irwin, ranked No. 8 at the position nationally and No. 85 overall.
In the last 15 years, ASU's highest rated quarterback additions have been Sam Keller, the No. 9 pro-style player in the 2003 class, Michael Eubank, the No. 8 dual-threat quarterback in 2011, and Michael Affleck, the No. 13 pro-style recruit in 2003, the same class as Keller. That was far and away ASU's best quarterback haul in history but would be clearly outclassed by a tandem of White and Perkins, at least in terms of rankings.
ASUDevils.com will have quotes from White on his decision in an updated version of this story to follow.
