Kelley, a 4-star who is rated the #5 pro style QB and #134 player overall, has started since the beginning of his sophomore year at Basha. Kelley has thrown for 5,714 yards and 50 touchdowns through two seasons at Arizona's highest level of prep competition.

Ryan Kelley's verbal ends what was a drought of sorts for ASU Football. It had been 179 days since ASU last took a verbal of a high school prospect who had more than one FBS Power 5 offer (that actually signed an LOI). That player was Chase Lucas, a frequent opponent of Kelley's at intra-city rival Chandler High.

Ryan Kelley's recruitment by Oregon was interesting in that he was the only QB prospect they had extended an offer to in the 2017 class. At the time, he said that level of focus what what helped seal his decision to head to Eugene after high school. He also added that the number of Arizona prospects Oregon has landed in recent years, such as Devon Allen and Jalen Brown, made him feel more comfortable about leaving home. Since November, Kelley's priorities and comfort level with Oregon have changed, as Offensive Coordinator Scott Frost has moved on to become head coach of Central Florida. Frost was Kelley's primary recruiter and a large factor in his original decision.

Ryan Kelley's verbal gives Arizona State their fifth QB commit in the last four years, as well as their second local QB commit (Bryce Perkins), and their second Rivals 4-star commit (Brady White) in the last three years.
