Jermani Brown commits to ASU

2017 four-star cornerback Jermani Brown was plenty impressed following his visits to Tempe, which is why the Calabasas (Calif.) High School standout decided to no longer delay the inevitable and announce his commitment to Arizona State this afternoon.
"I like the style of defense there," Brown said, "how they play a lot of man coverage, jamming wide receivers and that really fits the way I play. I really like the way (secondary) Coach Ball coaches always working on your technique and all the little things to make you a better player, like making sure that your feet don't go before your hands.

"I was there for the USC game and I liked everything about the school and the campus. They have great facilities and they have the indoor facility where you can practice in when it's hot which is nice. The players I talked there told me they liked everything about the team and the coaches and that it's fun playing there. From the first I time I visited there I liked it."
The 5-11 175-pound Brown is ranked 14th among all cornerbacks in his class and 115th overall among all 2017 prospects. So far this year Brown has posted 37 tackles (two for a loss) eight passes defended and one interception for the 9-1 Coyotes.
Recruiting analyst Adam Gorney evaluated Brown during the Rivals camp series and had this to say about ASU's newest commit:
"He's bouncy, athletic and active all the time so he can jump high to pick off a pass or knock it down," Gorney said. "What's also impressive about Brown's game is that he never gives up on a rep. Even if the receiver makes the catch, Brown is right there to try to rip it out."
Gorney also evaluated Brown during an October 3rd game where Calabasas faced La Canada St. Francis and came away impressed once again.
"Brown is so smooth," Gorney described, "He sticks to receivers throughout their routes and then if the ball is thrown to his side he covers the WR up and knocks the ball away. He also came up and popped the ball out on a short pass, which showed off Brown's instincts."
Brown said that when he made his final decision he picked Arizona State over Michigan State, Utah and Boise State. The cornerback said that he is solid with his pledge has no plans to visit any of his other suitors. He said he may visit ASU unofficially when they host Arizona next week.
