Linebacker Viliami Latu is one of two four-star high school defensive prospects to sign with Arizona State in the 2013 class. Learn more about him in our Getting to Know feature.
Role model: "My older cousins Kevin Unga, who played from Oregon State University and Devin Unga who played for BYU."
Best sports memory: "Receiving my first offer from Boise State."
On the first time he knew he was good enough to play at the next level: "After my junior year, all the media started to know my name and I started going to camps and was excited to get noticed."
On moving to ASU and being on his own: "It will be my first time leaving my parents. I'm sure it will be harder on them them then on us (brother A.J. Latu ASU commit) but the good part is I will be with my brother so we will really help each other out, it will be hard but we will learn a lot."
Why ASU: "I chose because I kind of had that early inspiration because of my cousin Paul Unga, who used to play. Going to the games, the tempo and environment was crazy. I didn't think we would get all this from ASU and when found out they offered us, it shocked us and it took some time to commit but it just came to us and we are proud and happy about our choice."
On his goals for next season: "Try to start as a true freshman because I feel like I have the size I just have to be fit for next season but I really want to just get started early."
On his signing day plans: "We will sign at our school. They will have a big signing day probably around 11:30a.m. We will send it in as soon as possible then celebrate later during the event with family and friends."
