When he transferred from Miami to Arizona State prior to the 2022 season, it was the first time that Nesta Jade Silvera left the state of Florida to play football on any level. Following his lone year in Temope, the defensive lineman will stay West of the Mississippi to continue his gridiron career after being selected by the Las Vegas Raiders in the seventh round and the No. 231 overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft.
The 6-2 304-pound lineman played in all 12 games for ASU last year, starting in the last ten for the Sun Devils. He posted a season-high 12 tackles against Utah. He ended that campaign tallying 56 tackles which placed him fourth on the team. Silvera was also tied for first on the team with 4.5 tackles for loss for nine yards.
He was projected by NFL.com Analyst Lance Zierlein to be chosen in the sixth or seventh round. Silvera was ASU's lone representative in the NFL combine.
Sivera's selection marks the tenth consecutive NFL draft that a Sun Devil has been selected. All in all, a former ASU player has been chosen in 71 of the last 73 NFL drafts.
