Bubak discusses ASU commitment

Growing up in Lincoln, Nebraska and committing the Cornhuskers seemed like the natural thing to do for Jared Bubak . This is why the decision to decommit from the hometown team wasn't easy for the 2016 tight end. Yet, his recruiting process with the Sun Devils made ASU appealing more and more over the last several months and tonight he decided to pledge to the school that has ultimately made such a significant impression on him.
"I'm really fired up right now," Bubak said tonight following his decision. "I was just ready to let everyone know that I was a Sun Devil. I didn't want to wait that much more. After Coach Pelini got fired (from Nebraska) I took a visit down there to Arizona State's Junior Day and I was just blown away by the coaches and the brotherhood. Meeting Brady White - he's an amazing guy and an amazing quarterback. Playing with him when I get there will be awesome. Those were definitely the main reasons I committed.

"They are recruiting me as a 3-back and it really fires me up with how they use that position in their offense. Coach Norvell's offense is just great for the way I want to play."
Bubak admitted that the June 27th decision to decommit from Nebraska was extremely tough and one that he had talked about at length for weeks with his family, but even prior to that decision he knew that ASU was the "place I wanted to be at."
"I think it helps getting this decision off of your shoulders before the season starts," Bubak explained. "Now I can concentrate on football. I'm not taking other visits or talking to other schools. I might take my official visit to ASU for the U of A game."
Bubak said that he is exploring the option of graduating early in December, since he realizes the value of getting to campus early and acclimating to college.
