Arizona State has agreed in principle to a multi-year sponsorship deal with Adidas according to multiple sources, and the school's current outfitter Nike has until the end of business Friday to match the offer or the deal will be finalized.

Adidas outbid other shoe companies including Nike and Under Armour in the multi-million dollar agreement that would outfit all of ASU's athletic teams beginning by August of 2015 and include shoes, uniforms, other equipment and cash.
ASU officials would not comment on the deal due to the school's existing deal with Nike.
The agreement with Adidas was initially struck several weeks ago according to one school employee who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The Sun Devils have worn Nike apparel since the summer of 2004, which followed a five year period during which it was sponsored by Adidas.
A move to Adidas would include new uniforms for ASU in all sports.
ASU Vice President for Athletics Ray Anderson and one of his initial senior staff hires, Associate Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer Greg McElroy, have aggressively stated the program's goal of increasing revenue. ASU's operating budget has grown substantially in recent years and is expected to continue on that path. A new apparel deal would be a small, but extremely visible step in that process.
McElroy is pursuing a naming rights corporate partner for the Sun Devil Stadium renovation project, among other deals including other new revenue streams.
Currently, Adidas has agreements with UCLA in the Pac-12 as well as Indiana, Kansas, Louisville, Michigan, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Carolina State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Wisconsin.
Nike is the overwhelming big market force in college athletics and outfitter of a majority of college programs, with adidas the second biggest shoe company in the business.
There has long been internal speculation at ASU that Under Armour could become its next apparel sponsor due to one of the company's senior executives being an alumnus and Under Armour's recent push into the college landscape, but that did not materialize.
If Nike elects to match terms of the ASU deal with Adidas, it would extend its agreement with the school which has been in place for more than a decade.
