2016 Center Jethro Tshisumpa Commits to ASU

Jethro Tshisumpa may have arrived in the United State from Congo just a couple of years ago, but it hasn't taken long for the 6-9 250-pound center from Grundy, Va. to establish himself as Rivas150 player. On Tuesday afternoon Tshisumpa became the second commit in the Sun Devils' 2016 class.
"Jethro is a quiet kid," said Jazzy Hartwell who is Tshisumpa's mentor. "But once you get to know him and he trusts you, you will have a good relationship. He has a good relationship with Coach Brian Merritt, really likes him and feels comfortable with him. It's a new staff at Arizona State and he feels like he has a good opportunity there.

"When we visited there (in June) he liked everything there. The coaches said he can protect the rim and control the paint. He has some work to do offensively, but defensively he is ready right now. He's athletic and he can block shots. He's a great kid and he will work hard. He has played basketball for just a year and a half. The more he plays the better he will get."
Hartwell added that Tshisumpa will officially visit Tempe in the fall and prior to November's early signing period.
