PERSONNEL NOTES

-- After stretches, we observed K.J. Jarrell (R-Fr/DB), Nami Tuitu'u(So./DL), Ty Thomas (So./S), Zach Robertson (R-JR./OL) and John Humphrey (R-Jr./WR), Ryan Kelley (R-Fr./QB) and Jared Bubak (R-So./TE) heading into the bubble. Robertson had a brace on his left knee but is expected to play against UTSA according to Edwards.

-- Sophomore Tillman safety Evan Fields was on the field for the first time during 11-on-11 this fall. Fields has been recovering from a hamstring injury all of fall camp, but shadowed Das Tautalatasi and Jalen Harvey as the first- and second-teams were out on the field.

-- Redshirt junior right guard Steven Miller was back fully participating during practice for the first time in over a week. He was back at first-team right guard after wearing the green, non-contact jersey during Thursday's practice.

--Sophomore running back Trelon Smith was again not at today's practice.

-- Senior linebacker Jay Jay Wilson was not at practice again, he will not be at practice during his suspension.

11-ON-11

Here's a quick rundown of the teams and some of the notes I caught from today's viewing. We only were able to watch tempo, so I could only really get some personnel notes:

First-Team Offense

-- Wide receiver Terrell Chatman was not out there during tempo period. And after being held out of 11-on-11 play for the last few practices, Brandon Aiyuk was back with the first-team offense at the Z receiver position. I imagine that Aiyuk was just getting a little break with the returns of Chatman and Frank Darby and expect him to start against UTSA.

-- QB Kurt Walding took every second-team rep. We again did not see Dillion Sterling-Cole take one snap.

Second-Team Offense

-- As you may have noticed, this depth chart has a lot fewer names as the team gets deeper into the UTSA game plan and assume that this is pretty close to what you'll see on the field in a week.

-- Defensive end Jordan Hoyt was in a gold scout-team jersey today but still took reps with the second-teamers. DL coach Shaun Nua said he doesn't think of the scout team as a demotion but rather as a chance for guys to get more work against the first-team offense. Shannon Foreman did the same thing on Tuesday.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: The defensive linemen were running through four dummies, weaving through each as they put a move on it to get around it. Most of the time, it was just hitting the dummy hard and blowing past it. On the last go-around, each was supposed to spin around the vertical row of dummies. Jordan Hoyt went through it first and did it as well as someone could. Renell Wren went next and ran through it with very little rhythm.

"Some people are just not dancers," Defensive line coach Shaun Nua shouted at Wren. "Some people are just not dancers. You're a fool, Renell.
