Houston linebacker Jacoby Simpson thoroughly enjoyed his official visit to Tempe and wasted little time upon his arrival back home committing Arizona State some 24 hours later.

“It feels good,” Simpson said about his commitment. “I prayed on it a lot and I just felt in my heart that I wanted to be a Sun Devil. The way the team planned out the visit and described the program, I know that I would fit in. The showed a lot of hospitality and love. I really liked the tradition and the fans there.

“The program has a lot of structure, they run on being disciplined, smart and having character. They have a great facility that shows how much they care about you after you’re done playing football and help you be a better man. My mom was with me on the visit and she loved both the athletic side and the academic side. When I called the coaches with my decision, they were very excited.”

Being similar size to senior linebacker D.J. Calhoun, Simpson feels that he would fit best in that WILL position.

“The (ASU) coaches like my sideline to sideline style of play,” Simpson described, “my physique and discipline. Coach Graham said that I fit very well into the program and that I should make a decision soon.”

Judging by today’s action, Simpson surely heeded that advice. ASU marked his lone official date and he was considering future visits to Louisville, Kansas, and Houston.
