Smith no longer with team

Senior Gregory Smith is no longer a member of Arizona State's football program.
ASU coach Todd Graham said Tuesday that Smith, a 6-foot-3, 255 pound defensive end/devil backer "didn't meet team standards."

A 6-foot-3, 255 pound defensive end/devil backer out of Citrus Hill High in Perris, Calif., Smith missed the latter portion of spring practices to focus on academics, Graham said at the time.
Last season, Smith played in every game and had one and a half sacks, a forced fumble and recovery against USC. He started back-to-back conference games against Utah and Oregon and finished the season with seven sacks.
Smith was one of three scholarship players to line up at devil backer in the spring along with sophomore Carl Bradford and redshirt freshman Jordan McDonald. He was listed second behind Bradford on the school's official spring depth chart.
Junior Onyeali, a junior pass rush specialist who earned Rivals.com Freshman All-American honors before missing much of last season with an injured knee, didn't participate in the spring due to suspension but is on track to re-join the team for the start of fall camp, Graham has said. Onyeali will likely work at devil backer.
