Onyeali suspended indefinitely by Graham

Arizona State's new football coach has suspended junior Junior Onyeali indefinitely after meeting with the defensive end this week.
"Todd Graham has suspended Junior Onyeali indefinitely from program activities for not meeting the high standards of the Sun Devil football program," an ASU spokesperson said in a statement.

Onyeali was left home from the Las Vegas Bowl trip several weeks ago and suspended after a verbal altercation with then coach Dennis Erickson in the final Tempe practice of the year.
The spokesperson said there was no new incident that led to Graham's decision. Rather, it was based on the actions of Onyeali prior to Graham taking over the program.
Over the course of the last two years, Onyeali has sometimes butted heads with ASU coaches and support staffers, even walking out of practice on at least one occasion.
After earning Freshman All-American honors by Rivals.com and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year following the 2010 season when he had 6.5 sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss, Onyeali had 11 tackles with one sack and 3.5 tackles for loss in eight games as a sophomore.
After Onyeali suffered a knee injury against Illinois last season, he looked quite a bit heavier when he returned a month later, and was largely ineffective in November.
