Role model: "My dad for sure. I'm religious. I'm Christian. So I'm always praying to God.
"My dad has always been there for me my whole life. He played college ball and he was an offensive linemen. He could really help me on what defensive ends did that was really good."
Best sports memory: "Pop warner, back in the day, we got second in the nation. That was really fun. We went out to Florida and competed. That was a very memorable year."
On the first time he knew he was good enough to play at the next level: "It was after my sophomore year in JV. It was during summer camp.
"Going into my junior year, seeing how good I was doing against the older guys and my strength compared to other people. It was like very realistic for me to go and play D-1 ball like I've wanted to do my whole life."
On moving to ASU and being on his own: "I'm really excited. I know there are a lot more responsibilities that go with it. I'm just ready to get out of this area and start a new life. It'll be fun, it'll be fun, but I'm ready for it for sure."
Why ASU: "It was pretty easy. When I went up there, I really felt it. When I went to other colleges, I was like 'ehh,' 'ok that was cool.' When I went to ASU, everything just felt right. I loved the coaches. The stadium was awesome. Going to games, there was so much energy in there.
"Another big part was the type of defense they run. There were schools that I liked, but they would play three down linemen where they put the defensive end on the inside a bit more. I don't like that as much. I like coming off the edge. The way ASU does it, it's really focused on the way I play the game."
On his goals for his freshman season: "I really want to see the field. Right now when I'm lifting, I'm trying to push myself as hard as I can everyday. I'm not really having as much fun for my senior year. I'm trying to enjoy my senior year, but I just know I'm really going to be a lot happier if I'm getting playing time next year. I just don't want to do that redshirt year. I'd rather just work my butt off and get where I want to be. I want to exceed at what they expect me to come in at.
"That wouldn't be a problem [being redshirted]. I'm just saying, I don't want to go in expecting it to be laid back. I'm going to in at my max potential I could possibly be at."
On his signing day plans: "I'll probably have more of a family-thing when I commit. All of my family over from both sides to celebrate, and some friends too."
