Darel Middleton commits to ASU

Earlier in the year when Darel Middleton was offered by Arizona State, the Oak Ridge, Tenn. tight end said he was "intrigued." Just 24 hours after posting his top five schools, which included the Sun Devils, Middleton decided to commit to ASU over the likes of Alabama and Oregon among others.
The 6-6 258-pound Middleton committed to Tennessee while he was a freshman at Powell High School, he later decommitted and transferred to Oak Ridge where the tight end he also played on the defensive line, as well as being part of the basketball squad.

Does he have a preference of which side of the ball the ball he would like to line up in college?
"That's too hard of a question. It's even," Middleton told Ralph Amsden in a previous interview. "This year I'll even get to play on the on the outside a little more. We're playing a flex/wing-t type offense and they have me and Tee Higgins split out wide, it should be very interesting."
In May's Carolina Classic 7-on-7 Middleton was named the best tight end at the event by Recruiting Analyst Adam Freedman. "Middleton is a huge target for quarterbacks," Freedman said. "He is tough to stop once he gets into his route. Middleton made a number of plays down field, including a long touchdown after catching the pass on a post route over the middle. It was impressive how fast Middleton was with the ball in his hands."
