ASU lands 4-star 2014 DB Jaleel Wadood

Arizona State sophomore safety Rashad Wadood found out after many others but didn't give his brother a hard time about it.
Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco junior defensive back Jaleel Wadood, a four-star Rivals250 prospect in the 2014 class, committed to the Sun Devils in a Monday phone call with coach Todd Graham and affirmed it when Graham and area recruiter DelVaughn Alexander visited him at school Tuesday.

"At Christmas time we talked about recruiting," Jaleel said of the dialogue he had with his brother. "He said ASU would be a good look for me but didn't put it on me. He actually wanted me to take more time but when I talked to him today he was excited for me. He didn't know until everyone else found out but he was pretty happy."
The Wadood brothers would be on the same team for a season in Tempe if Jaleel sticks to his pledge, and it's something he said he's looking forward to.
"Committing to coach Graham was really exciting," Wadood said. "He was very fired up about me being a Sun Devil. He made me feel great and feel like I made the right decision."
A 5-foot-11, 165-pounder, Wadood plays defensive back and running back in high school, and projects to the secondary in college, but not where you might expect given his size, at least not at ASU.
"It basically comes down to how much weight I gain," said Wadood, who claimed 50 tackles and one interception as a junior. "They actually like me at the (free) safety spot so it depends on how much weight I gain and how much stronger I can but that's what I'm going to try to do so I can go in and play that position."
Colorado and Oregon State had already offered scholarships Wadood said, and many others have been actively recruiting him at a relatively early stage.
"I just feel like I can be a part of something great and make a great situation out of me going to Arizona State," he said. "I'm very excited right now.
When asked about what makes him a good college prospect, Wadood said the following:
"I'm a natural athlete. I like to make plays, I'm a big playmaker. I'm very quick to the ball, I have great speed. I'm a great tackler at my size and am working on getting bigger so when I come down with my speed and intensity I can make it a nightmare for someone coming at me on offense. I have great ball skills. I'm a ball hawk when it comes to getting it in the air. I just think ASU will hopefully make it better when I get there."
