With Arizona State Football on a bye week, there is no new uniform to detail, so we’re back with more 2024 off-field gear and a couple of not-so-easy-to-see on-field details. Let’s take a look at those while the team rests and the equipment staff prepares the uniform for the next game.

Warm Travel Gear

During the first bye week, we were able to see light travel gear meant for comfort. The set that we’re looking at this week was not received until after the last bye week article, and it arrived just in time. Why is that? Because ASU’s back half of the season has three road games as the temperature gets cooler in the later months of the year. No road trip stands out as a necessity for warm clothes more than The Sun Devils’ trip to Manhattan, Kansas, in late November. So, let’s take a look at this travel gear.

First, the Sun Devils are being provided with a maroon beanie, which has a maroon pitchfork with gold trim on the front, a gold adidas logo on the back, and a maroon pom on top.

The maroon warm travel hooded jacket has a maroon pitchfork with gold trim on the left chest and a gold adidas logo on the right chest. Each sleeve has a gold, piped stripe running the full length of the arm and up to the base of the neck with the full school name “Arizona State University” in gold print on the right arm. There are identical gold stripes on each side of the jacket running up from the hip to the armpit. White drawstrings and a full-length gold zipper with a maroon zipper pull round out the details on the front. The back of the jacket features a maroon “Sun Devils” word mark with letters outlined in gold

The maroon warm travel pants have a maroon pitchfork with gold trim on the left hip and a gold adidas logo on the right, as well as white drawstrings. The pants feature mismatched stripes on either leg, with a white stripe running up the length of the left leg and a gold stripe accompanied by a gold “Arizona State University” word mark running up the length of the left leg. The final details are small maroon cuff zippers at the bottom of each pant leg.

Mouthguards

The Sun Devil is in the details, and that is what these next couple of sections are about. These are items that are used during games but may not be noticed from afar in a stadium or even on TV during the heat of a game. The first items we will cover are mouthguards. There are two colors of branded mouthguards to choose from maroon and white. The maroon mouth guard has a gold pitchfork with maroon trim, a gold Shock logo, and a gold inset on the front.

It also has a gold bite plate and maroon exterior, along with a maroon strap to attach to a facemask. The white mouthguard also has a gold pitchfork with maroon trim along with a maroon Shock logo and inset on the front. It has a maroon bite plate and a white exterior.

Visor Clip Decals

The smallest details are something regular readers of the column may have already seen as they show up in the helmet picture every week, and those are visor clip decals. For those players who wear visors on their helmets, the equipment staff must use clips to attach the visors to the facemasks. The visors have a small bit of surface area, and the equipment staff, not to leave any detail off of the uniforms, will place small decals on that limited surface area, further branding the uniform with more logos and colors.

They are able to adjust the decals on the visor clips to match what the team is wearing that week. On the helmet pictured below, the white base decals feature white pitchforks with maroon trim.

I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at the extra gear that Sun Devil players get to enjoy in this bye-week edition of Uniformity. Keep an eye out next week for the next uniform as Arizona State resumes its season against Oklahoma State on November 2nd.
