Wesley commits to Utah

Utah added badly needed help to its offensive line on Sunday with the commitment of Diablo Valley College offensive tackle De'Ondre Wesley.

The 6-foot-6 inch, 310 pound prospect has been talking to Utah coaches since spring, and after doing his research, Utah seemed like a natural choice.

"I chose Utah because they have been really solid with me throughout the recruiting process. Through it all from the summer to now, it 's the only school that I've built a relationship with. I feel really comfortable with Utah," Wesley said.

Wesley is especially close with Utah tight ends coach Ilaisa Tuiaki, who has been his primary recruiter. "Coach Tuiaki is a great man. He kept up with me through it all. He kept up on my grades and what I have to do to get qualified. Overall he's a great coach. I'm going to love playing for him in the future," he said.

Wesley is teammates with current Ute commit Andre Lewis, and their friendship also had an impact on the big lineman's decision to commit early. "It swayed me in that direction a little bit. We sat down and talked about it and thought it would be great to go to the same school. But it mostly had to do with my family. We did a lot of research on the school and found out that it is a great university. That helped my decision," he explained.

Making an early decision has brought Wesley a sense of relief, and he plans on focusing his attention on his season. "I know where I'm going to fit in. That's all that I was looking for. I thought that committing to Utah now would be great opportunity for me," he said.

Wesley is a versatile guard that can play tackle and guard, and will compete for immediate playing time when he arrives on campus. "I can pretty much read a defense and what they do. I think I can fit in really well, and really bring that offensive line group together and make something happen. I want to have a big impact on the school," he said.
