No. 18 California came in to Kansas City ready to play on Monday night, and in the Bears' first real test of the 2011-12 season, went into halftime with a 36-25 lead over Georgia.

Bolstered by a six-rebound performance off the bench by Missouri native David Kravish, Cal out-worked the Bulldogs 21-11 on the boards and finished the first half with a commanding 11-point lead.

Right behind Kravish on the boards was sophomore Richard Solomon, who pulled down five rebounds and scored three points -- all on free throws.

The Bears went on a 14-0 run to end the first half, capped off by a physical lay-in from sophomore Minnesota transfer Justin Cobbs.

Cobbs shot 2-of-3 from the floor, including a three-pointer on his first shot of the game, to finish the half with five points and four assists.

Senior guard Jorge Gutierrez goes into the locker room with 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line, leading all scorers.

Senior Harper Kamp came out on fire in the first half, sinking all four of his shots from the field and 1-of-2 from the charity stripe for nine points, and adding two defensive rebounds.

After going 45:22 without scoring a basket, sophomore wing Allen Crabbe finally broke through with a three-pointer with 5:54 left in the first half, and also chipped in two assists and four boards before the break.
