EMCC quarterback commits to FAU

After one year on the field in junior college, Quez Johnson is ready to take his skills to the next level.

The redshirt freshman quarterback at East Mississippi Community College has committed to Florida Atlantic and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

"They started recruiting me last Saturday," Johnson said. "My coach called around to a lot of places and they liked my film. I had a visit with them set up for December but they called me back on Saturday and said they wanted me to come down there. I went on Monday and stayed through Wednesday. I went to practice and met with all the coaches. I liked the environment and the fact they want to succeed."

Johnson will graduate from EMCC in December and will enroll with the Owls in January to participate in spring practice. The 6-foot-1, 225-pounder also had offers from Tennessee-Martin, Northwestern State and UNC-Charlotte.
