The 6-foot-6, 295-pound offensive lineman from Big Walnut High School in Ohio selected the Spartans over a host of other BCS schools, including Michigan, Wisconsin and Purdue. In all, Schofner had approximately 25 scholarships offers to choose from.

Schofner confirmed to via text prior to kickoff yesterday that he had made his commitment to Michigan State. A simple "It's true" statement was what he responded with when asked if he was the newest member of the Spartan family.

The commitment of Schofner to the Spartans is critical as the staff needs to build a championship level offensive line if they want to compete for Rose and BCS Bowls.

"The game didn't turn out as I would have hope, but that doesn't change my feeling. I want to help the team win with the other guys coming in. I sat down with Coach Dantonio after the game with my family and we talked about things. I really like the coaches and so does my family."

Schofner has already started to develop a rapport with several of his future teammates. He mentioned that he has gotten to know guys like Travis Jackson, Michael Dennis, William Gholston and Joe Boisture.

Schofner becomes the 15th commitment to the class of 2010.
