ESPN had the President fill out his March Madness Bracket and it won't be revealed until Noon EST, but the preview on this mornings SportsCenter showed him picking Temple over ASU. So does he lose some love from the board for that? Bracket is now linked. No love for the PAC-10.

Can't lose love he never had. Just another bad decision by him imo.

My ditto was for pammie's post, the previous one posted moments before mine. As mentioned below, there are much more important issues for the President than the NCAA tourney or the BCS. He needs to stop pandering to voters with his "everyman" sports guy personna and get to leading the country.

Its his opinion, I don't think Temple is a gimme either.

Posted on 3/18 8:58 AM | IP: Logged

Maybe he should be focusing more on BEING THE PRESIDENT. I hear there are quite a few issues out there that need tending. He and his cabinet of tax cheats seem to have enough on their plate as it is.

Posted on 3/18 9:29 AM | IP: Logged

lol @ the Obama hatred and all those "bad" decisions he's made already. you're right, he could've made a huge difference with the issues in our country had he not spent all of 5 minutes filling out a bracket.

Posted on 3/18 10:22 AM | IP: Logged

I've put in about 70 hours over the last week and I'm the President has too. Still had 30 minutes to fill out a bracket. Obama is a devout workaholic, Bush was a devout 9pm bedtime kind of guy. Not a big deal. You can work a lot and still find time to do things that keep you, basically at the expense of sleep. Its the American way. I don't agree with many philosophies of the left, but I don't think it's fair to rag on a man who works around the clock for doing things he enjoys, especially if that is following sports. Get over it.

In response to ASUyooo11's post. Since when does it mean that when you become President you have to stop being a person. Does it also mean you have to stop having any fun in life. I don't want some mechanical person in office. Maybe we should create a robot without emotion and feelings to run the government.

Posted on 3/18 11:23 AM | IP: Logged

Here is the link to the written version of his bracket. Notice next to Temple he puts a huge question mark.

What the hell!!?? Obama already used five minutes to make a Super Bowl pick, his allotted yearly time to pay attention to sports is up. rolleyes If George Bush can take a vacation while the country is at war, then Obama can fill out a tourney bracket.

Posted on 3/18 11:54 AM | IP: Logged

Bush's whole 8 years was a vacation.

Posted on 3/18 12:06 PM | IP: Logged

I don't care if he fills out the ballot I just care about his decisions that so far leave a lot to be desired. For the record I never voted for Bush either and couldn't stand him. They are all a joke.

Posted on 3/18 12:20 PM | IP: Logged

I'm going with all Obama's choices, after all when he was nominated it was "the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal". So picking the brackets is childs play for him.

Posted on 3/18 12:30 PM | IP: Logged

He appears to have developed an East Coast bias. After the White House, he can join the crew at ESPN.

His role is the President. All I am saying is he should act like it. When I want to hear bracket talk, I will listen to Digger and Jay. When I want to hear a statement from the leader of the free world, I will listen to Mr. Obama. I don't care about Digger, Dickie V, and Jay Bilas' take on politics, just like I don't care about Barack Obama's views on the NCAA Tournament and the BCS.

All I am saying is that it is sad that our president tries to gain popularity with Americans using such non-important (in the grand scheme of things) events such as the NCAA tournament and the BCS.

My goal was not to kick off a political debate.

......and yes, my dislike for Obama was ratcheted up when I saw that he picked Temple. The more troubling thought is that Lunardi thinks Temple will win. I guess we will find out on Friday.

Posted on 3/18 2:28 PM | IP: Logged

He has to do whatever he can do to some how get re-elected...I can't blame him for that.

Posted on 3/18 2:29 PM | IP: Logged

So, Obama filled out a bracket....YAWN

Hey, maybe Sean Penn did too, maybe we can see what he picked? You know he's "been to an NCAA game".

lighten up! he made a promise to Andy Katz before he won the election that if he won he would do the story with Katz.

Obama filled out the bracket with one team and still won. His one team? University of Obama's-Gonna-Kick-Some-Ass

I bet he wins the perfect bracket challenge.

Posted on 3/18 3:17 PM | IP: Logged

Temple is an inner-city school in Philly. Philly is 70%+ African American in population. There's your answer right there.

Posted on 3/18 3:22 PM | IP: Logged

this thread is really going places...

Posted on 3/18 3:58 PM | IP: Logged

...not

Posted on 3/18 5:30 PM | IP: Logged

Heaven forbid he is "human", likes basketball and does what millions of other people do. In the 5 minutes he spent on a bracket, you are right, he should have been saving the world...geez...

Posted on 3/18 6:20 PM | IP: Logged

Obama has extra time because he doesn't need to eat, crap or sleep. Only mere mortals need to do that.

How many Obama aides are needed to screw in a lightbulb? None. Obama holds the lightbulb in its socket and it screws itself in as the Universe revolves around Obama.

Good one Pitch!

Philadelphia is around 40-45% African American.

Looked up the #'s and Stewboy is rigth...but...Philly has the 4th largest African American population in the US. Get my point why African American Prez Obama picked Temple over ASU? Trust me, I worked for a company outside of Philly and the deal to put the headqtrs there was contigent on having at least 25% AA population. The company - AstraZeneca.

Obama is half white, half black. He was raised by and had an extremely close relationship with his mom who is white, and her parents who are white. What about him makes you think he's going to pick a team based solely on the race of a city / university? If you look at his hand written bracket, he has a big question mark next to Temple, as if to say "not sure, might need to check up on it". Why would you throw out such an ignorant accusation like this ?????????????????????????????

Posted on 3/19 11:32 AM | IP: Logged

i think it would tend to help him politically to choose temple. he's going to get more approval ratings from pennsylvania than he would az.

Posted on 3/19 1:18 PM | IP: Logged

Agree with yankee ... also this may be more of a case of East Coast bias rather than race. In DC he probably has never seen ASU play.

Yes Black people would not vote for him now because he picked ASU I guess he picked BYU over A&M for the same reasons. This is maybe the worst thread I have seen here since kungfu and voldemort left

This. Thanks Stew for once again being the voice of calm/common sense.

When your career is politics...every move you make is calculated to win support and raise approval...none of you are from Philly area and don't know the racial tension there...having a black prez means all eyes of black people are on Obama's every move...Temple is located in North Philly...very black neighborhood and a very rough part of the city. You people in Arizona are so niave to racial tension between blacks and whites.
