July 25, 2007The games have finally begun. That is the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and on the heels of the women's team taking the gold medal, Team USA's men's team opened their competition with an 81-72 loss to Uruguay with Cougar senior-to-be Kyle Weaver scoring four points in the win. Fellow Cougar senior-to-be Derrick Low, also on the team with Weaver - did not play.
Weaver started the game against Uruguay and eventually logged nearly 27 minutes of playing time, during which made one of three shots plus hit two free throws for his point total. Weaver's line also included two rebounds, one assist, one steal, one foul and three turnovers.
Team USA will next play Panama in the preliminary round at 3:45pm on Thursday, July 26 with televised coverage provided by ESPN Deportes.
