Video: Graham on Arizona challenges
Arizona State coach Todd Graham gave his final thoughts about the challenges presented by Arizona and the importance of the game Wednesday.
Here are some of his comments:
"It's all run-pass," Graham said of the Arizona offensive scheme. "It's all off the run game. The key, [Ka'Deem Carey is] the best player we've played against all season long. He's really a special player. You can't spend all your time worrying about [the passing game], you better stop the run game. And obviously they're a run-play-action-pass team so a lot of those passes are coming off the read zone action. They're a heck of an offensive football team putting up a lot of yards."
"What I talk to our players about is winning a championship and this is a big, big game for us because this is the Territorial Cup and this is the most important trophy that we possess. That's big enough in itself but home field advantage is another huge thing. We've got to figure out a way to go and take it and be prepared. That's what I talk to the guys about, about communicating, making sure we that we don't beat ourselves turning the ball over, obviously we've got to win special team is going to be key in this game. Field position is going to be big. We've got to give them a long field."
"We put the same amount [of time into special teams in practice] as we have every single week. It's been something that we had a really, really bad game against Stanford and a really, really bad game against UCLA. We put emphasis on it every single day the same way. On the same hand, you can't panic about stuff. We have a lot of confidence offensively, we have a lot of confidence defensively. I have confidence in what we're doing on special teams and who we are doing it with. We've just got to get some things corrected...I look for our guys to play great on special teams this week."
