Arizona lineman considers Wyoming visit
For Mesa (Ariz.) road grader, Nick Allen, the season hasn't gone entirely to plan, but that isn't really a bad thing. The 6-foot-6, 230-pounder said he went into the season with plans to play tight end, but due to a lack of depth along the offensive line, he has been moved to left tackle.
In the grand scheme of things, that is probably a good move. The Desert Ridge prep holds scholarship offers from Wyoming, South Dakota, San Diego State, South Dakota State, Idaho and Colorado, with at least some of those schools offering Allen as a tackle.
"We are 6-1 this year," Allen said in a text to gowyogo.com Monday. "Offensively I am doing pretty good. Defensively (he also plays defensive end) I am doing okay."
Allen said the Cowboys have asked Allen to consider a spot on their team as an offensive lineman.
"I've talked to (Defensive Line Coach) Matt Rahl and for now he's said they want to use me as an offensive linemen," Allen said. "I think it would be pretty cool. I am pretty sure I'm going to take a visit up there after the season."
Allen said he wasn't sure which weekend he plans to visit Laramie as yet - likely sometime after the end of the Desert Ridge season so he can stay in the Cowboy State for multiple days.
While Allen said he likes Wyoming, he added that he doesn't have any favorites yet. He said he is likely to take a few other visits, but also hasn't decided on which schools he wants to check out.
